Annoying Mattress Mack Loses More Than $13 Million After Astros Elimination

The sportsbooks are saying 'thank you' to Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale after he generously handed them at least $13 million by way of various betting losses after his Houston Astros were eliminated from the ALCS last night.

The Houston-based furniture owner who has become synonymous with big-money wagers for the Astros had placed at least four different bets throughout the season for the Astros to once again win the World Series, including a $6.9 million wager prior to the postseason.

His potential earnings would have netted him anywhere from $40-50 million according Reuters.

Ya love to see it.

MATTRESS MACK WENT FROM COOL TO ANNOYING

72-year-old Mack started gaining notoriety across the sports betting world in recent years after placing massive bets with a real-world incentive. For any customers that bought specific mattresses of at least $5,000 from his store, he promised he would double their money back for various wagers. After losing multiple times, Mack finally hit last year to the joy of Houston-obsessed bed owners when the Astros defeated the Phillies in the World Series.

Mack was able to win an astounding $75 mllion at the time - so much that he had to leave one of the sportsbooks with some of it in a damn WHEELBARROW.

But as with all things, the hype soon turned to resentment towards Mack when he began being everywhere.

As I wrote earlier this year in my column, Mack has worn out his welcome.

"In fact, it’s almost more fun to see him lose. That’s where we are right now – instead of ‘Return of the Mack’ I am calling for ‘Fade the Mack," I said back in March. Hope ya'll listened to me!

I'm sure Mack is a nice person (I have no idea) but after his massive $70 million-plus victory, soon the sponsorship deals began coming in, he started betting a million dollars on other games just because he could, as well as mouthing off to people like Dak Prescott and it soon became too much.

There's also that whole thing of him being an Astros fan, meaning that if Mack wins, the Astros won. And if you're a fan of any of the other 31 teams in Major League Baseball, that stinks.

RANGERS WILL PLAY EITHER PHILLIES OR DIAMONDBACKS

After leading 3 games to 2 in the ALCS, the Astros got absolutely rocked by the Texas Rangers and gave up 20 runs over the last two games.

The Rangers will now wait to face the winner of tonight's Game 7 between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks.
