Olivia Dunne's Boyfriend, Also Known As No. 1 Pick Paul Skenes, Couldn't Stop Throwing Gas In Spring Debut

Paul Skenes – known to some as the boyfriend of Olivia Dunne, and others as the most recent No. 1 overall pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates – came out of the gates firing piss missiles yesterday. 

The former LSU ace made his spring training debut Thursday, and more than lived up to the billing – both as the next Nolan Ryan AND Livvy's blue-collar boyfriend. 

Skenes topped 100 MPH four times in his only inning of work, which included a matchup with former No. 1 pick Jackson Holliday and star catcher Adley Rutschman.

Elite pitcher and, more importantly, an elite mustache. No wonder this kid bagged Olivia Dunne a few months back. It's called having all the intangibles. 

Some have it, some don't. Seems like Paul Skenes has it and ain't giving it up any time soon. 

How about this for some Xs and Os …

According to the nerds over at MLB.com, of Paul's 10 pitches in his only frame Thursday, five were fastballs, clocking in at 100, 101, 99, 102 and 101 mph, as registered by the radar gun at Ed Smith Stadium. 

Since the advent of Pitch f/x in 2008, only nine starting pitchers have thrown 102 mph in a game. None of them were Pirates.

Looks like we finally have our MLB power couple here, folks. Don't want to put the cart before the horse, but things are looking way up in Pittsburgh. 

I'm a little concerned that Olivia Dunne ain't gonna be thrilled with the prospect of moving to the Steel City, but we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there. 

For now, it's evident the Pirates are on the rise – both on and off the field.
