Nets Guard Clowns Adrian Wojnarowski For Posting Fake Trade News

Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Smith, Jr., had fun at the expense of ESPN-NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski after Woj tweeted fake news involving Smith.

In the final hours of the NBA trade deadline, Wojnarowski announced a trade between the Nets and the Toronto Raptors, mentioning DSJ as one of the players leaving Brooklyn.

Woj tweeted out the details and quickly deleted the post. Why? DSJ wasn't part of the trade.

For a guy like Woj, with 6.3 million followers on X alone, no post goes unpunished. The ESPN insider found himself getting trolled by the internet, including Dennis Smith, Jr.

DSJ reacted to Woj's awkward gaffe on X, leading up to the Nets' Thursday night matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite his understanding that he'll remain in Brooklyn for the rest of the season, Smith posted a ‘shocked’ expression — confused as to whether he's expected to suit up or hop on the next AirCanada flight based on Woj's reporting.

The Nets ultimately swapped veteran guards with Toronto, sending Spencer Dinwiddie for Dennis Schroder. The Raptors also sent Thaddeus Young (bet you haven't heard that name in a minute) to Brooklyn.

Toronto waived Dinwiddie after the deal, which is fairly inconsequential, similar to most of the trades made at Thursday's deadline.

Schroder is averaging 13.7 points and 6.1 assists per game this season. Dinwiddie played through a slump this season, but still averaging 12.6 points.

Frankly, Woj's slip-up could be chalked up to human error … but since the NBA media vet is known as a bit of a scrooge, the time seemed optimal to laugh at his expense.

And overall, Woj did have a rough Thursday to close out the NBA's trade period.

Not only did Wojnarowski get his details crossed, he also got scooped by Patrick Beverley when the veteran player announced his trade to the Milwaukee Bucks on X, leaving Woj and Shams Charania watching from the sidelines.
