Davante Adams Puts To Rest The Rumors He Wants Out Of Las Vegas

In case you still don't believe that Davante Adams will be a Las Vegas Raider this season, the All-Pro wide receiver is setting the record straight.

After two disappointing seasons in Vegas, the rumors are swirling about whether Adams might be looking for a change of scenery. But the 31-year-old is staying put. At least that's what he told a group of reporters on Sunday.

"If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now," Adams said, per The Athletic. "This is where I want to be."

The Raiders acquired Adams from the Packers in 2022 and then signed him to a five-year, $140 million contract extension. At the time, the six-time Pro Bowler was thrilled to work with his longtime friend and former Fresno State teammate Derek Carr. In fact, he said Carr was the reason he became a Raider in the first place.

But last off-season, Las Vegas traded Carr and brought in Jimmy Garoppolo from the San Francisco 49ers — a decision that prompted comments from Adams about how he didn't see "eye-to-eye" with then-general manager Dave Ziegler.

Lucky for him, Las Vegas solved that problem by firing Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels in November. Antonio Pierce then took the helm, and the franchise removed his interim tag earlier this year — a move Adams was fully on board with.

"It's already helped the morale of the team. It's what we were all looking for: To be able to continue with the same mindset that we had. That's our guy," Adams said on Sunday.

Davante Adams Is Staying In Las Vegas

Still, it's easy to see why he might be frustrated. The Raiders have gone 14-20 over the last two seasons. But despite the team's lack of success, Adams has been solid.

In 2022, he compiled 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns. And last season, Adams crossed the 1,000-yard receiving mark again — the fifth time he's accomplished the feat in the last six seasons (four consecutive). He played all 17 games in 2023, tallying 107 receptions, 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

Now if the rest of the team can pull its weight in 2024, maybe we can finally put these Davante Adams trade rumors to rest for good.
