Take A Tour Of Lionel Messi's $200,000/mo. South Florida Rental

While you guys are slumming it at the Courtyard by Marriott on South Beach this summer, soccer legend Lionel Messi is struggling just a few miles south on Key Biscayne where he's spending some quality time in an 8,200 sq. ft. mansion in a community of rich people who don't go bothering other super-rich people. Messi's rental goes for $200k a month, which isn't even that bad when you make approximately $84M a year. I'll do the math for you: Messi's not even blinking at $200k a month.

According to IslanderNews.com, neighborhood kids have been hanging out at the gate in front of Messi's rental hoping to get a glimpse of the soccer hero. But have no fear, we're not talking random kids from Miami. We're talking about super-rich kids who live on the block. Islander News reports you can't even get into the area unless you live on the block.

From the homeowner, who is reportedly Argentinian businessman Sergio Roitberg:

Extraordinary waterfront estate with unobstructed, breathtaking views of the bay from every room. This magnificent residence is on a cul-de-sac on very exclusive Mashta Island in Key Biscayne. Lush landscaping throughout. Fully automated and equipped with state-of-the-art security system, top of the line appliances, designer furniture and incredible finishes throughout. High ceilings, elevator, floor to ceiling impact glass windows, 3-car garage , 360 degree wrap around balconies, rooftop terrace and an infinity pool sitting on a gorgeous wooden deck. Family room, playroom, office and all 5 bedrooms are equipped with 75" smart HDTVs. Modern gym with Peloton, NordicTrack, and Life Fitness equipment. Housekeeper quarters & service. Wave Runner & SPBs / kayak.

Look, the place is really nice. It's not some crazy Greg Norman house with a $59M price tag, but it's still liveable. Messi's rental would go in the $15M range, according to Zillow. In other words, this is just a place to enjoy for the summer and then you throw it back in the pond. It's not Messi's forever pad. It's a hotel room.

As for the nearest Starbucks, it's 1.6 miles north on the key, but the nearest Whole Foods is 10 miles up into Miami. That's clearly a no-go for the world's biggest soccer superstar. There is a Winn-Dixie just up the street from Lionel's rental and a CVS to grab the essentials. Put it this way, Messi's having a pretty ideal American summer vacation in Florida. Chase some sunsets, lounge on the patio, pool beers, dogs, burgers, mix in a few boating days, etc.

At the end of the day, he's having a summer pretty much like the rest of us.
