Bill Burr Thinks CNN Still Covering Trump Because They're Desperate For Ratings

Though CNN ratings continue to stagger like a House Democrat drinking Miller Lite, comedian Bill Burr doesn't find much conviction in punching down.

Burr spoke out to criticize CNN's post-election coverage of former President Donald Trump on the Thursday episode of his podcast, Monday Morning Podcast.

Nearly six months after Trump left office, Burr addressed the disconnect between wanting the former president out of the spotlight, yet continually dragging him back in it.

“It’s like, do you think these people give a f–k who’s president? They want Darth Vader to come back," commented Burr. "They want him to come back. Because they had nothing to talk about, because it’s show business, and Joe Biden is a f–king bore."

Burr said that the media networks are bent out of shape for ousting their ratings darling from the White House — now they're stuck with ice cream updates on Biden.

"So now what do they do? They’re going out there, they’re doing what they did the first time to get this guy elected, by giving him all this free coverage, while they act like they allegedly don’t like him. I don’t buy it. I don’t buy it. They are a corporate news channel.

"Do you know what those f--king morons are doing? They’re f--king talking about Trump. I swear … I cannot believe people watch that channel. They’re so dumb."

According to OutKick's Bobby Burack, audiences backing CNN, MSNBC and other outlets that relied on opinion journalism during Trump's tenure have plummeted in viewership during Biden's first 100 days as president. Without a villain to cling to, CNN strayed from giving airtime to President Biden and introduced coverage of Fox News personalities as their new "big bad." The result has been numbers so low that even Jeff Zucker blushes at them.

These networks still fills their chyrons and articles with Trump-centric critique, while talks of a red wave and general movement away from radicalized left-wing viewpoints have left them without a connection to its viewers.

Burr even suggested that the mainstream media might tacitly support Trump's return to 1600 Penn in order to relive the halcyon days of higher ratings.

“They can’t bitch about because he’s wearing a blue tie,” said the actor and comedian.
