Jim Irsay Says He's 'On The Mend' After Hospitalization For Respiratory Illness

The health of Jim Irsay seems to be trending in the right direction. The Indianapolis Colts owner took to social media Tuesday — posting his first message since being hospitalized last month. It's unclear whether he has been released from medical care.

"On the mend," he wrote. "Grateful for all the messages of love and support."

On Jan. 9, the Colts released a statement saying Irsay was undergoing treatment for a severe respiratory illness, but the organization has been tight-lipped about his health ever since.

In December, the 64-year-old was found "unconscious on a bathroom floor with a blue skin tone." The police report also noted he was "unresponsive" and "cold to the touch." Officers administered a dose of Narcan — a medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Taylor Swift Song Helped Cops Save Colts Owner Jim Irsay Last Month

Video obtained by TMZ shows police officers blaring Taylor Swift as they raced to save Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Irsay has struggled with addiction (mostly to painkillers) for quite some time. And in a November interview with HBO Sports, he said he'd been to rehab "at least 15 times." He also acknowledged a near-fatal incident several years ago during which he said he went "code blue" and had to be revived.

Irsay had not been heard from or seen publicly since before that incident in December. But sources confirmed to ESPN that it was, in fact, the Colts' owner posting from his X account Tuesday — not a staffer.

Irsay has been the owner, chairman, and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts since 1997. The Colts have not commented on Irsay's condition since their statement one month ago.
