Gerrit Cole Gave Up A 700-Foot Homer In Spring Training And Took Notes On The Celebration

Gerrit Cole is already in midseason form. Who needs spring training?

The reigning Cy Young champ gave up a 700-foot* home run to Toronto's Daniel Vogelbach Friday night, and big Dan celebrated like he just hit a walk-off bomb in Game 7 of the ALCS.

Well, sort of. I reckon it depends on who you ask.

If you ask the Yankees' ace, then yes, it was a bit much for March 1. If you ask me – a miserable Red Sox fan – it wasn't enough.

You make the call!

Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole is ready to drill Daniel Vogelbach

Love it. Inject this sort of bitching and moaning straight into my veins. It's March 2. There is literally nothing exciting going on right now in the world of sports.

Sure, you have college basketball winding down (up), which means we're close to March Madness. NASCAR just started, so that's cool.

But there's no real drama right now. So yes, I'm 100% in on Daniel Vogelbach hitting an absolute piss missile to the other side of the state and flipping his bat to the moon.

And I'm equally in on Gerrit Cole getting all in his feelings about it and most likely drilling big Dan in the earhole at some point this summer.

Call me Swiss for riding the fence on this one, but whatever. I'm in on all the pettiness that comes with Gerrit Cole, and there's plenty of it.

Can't wait for Rafael Devers to do the same multiple times this season. At least I'll have that when the Sox are 30 games out in July.

Zach grew up in Florida, lives in Florida, and will never leave Florida ... for obvious reasons. He's a reigning fantasy football league champion, knows everything there is to know about NASCAR, and once passed out (briefly!) during a lap around Daytona. He swears they were going 200 mph even though they clearly were not.
