Crazy Matt Barnes Tries Beefing With High Schooler During Son's Basketball Game

Former NBA player Matt Barnes started an altercation on the sideline while attending a high school basketball game featuring his son.

Over the weekend, Barnes sparked trouble at the Harvard-Westlake versus Crespi Carmelite H.S. game. Barnes watched his son play for Crespi, coached by Derek Fisher.

Barnes reportedly got in an altercation after walking courtside to argue against the refs. His rage shifted toward Crespi's student announcer, whom Barnes approached menacingly.

People intervened to settle Barnes down and separate him from the broadcaster. Barnes allegedly heard the broadcaster telling him to "shut up."

The student targeted by Barnes, Jake Lancer, spoke to an independent reporter, relaying that Barnes threatened to ‘slap’ him. "[Barnes] said ‘what do you think you're looking at,' and I said ‘you’re screaming you’re a (p****)’ to the refs mid game while I'm trying to announce, don’t touch me’ and then he said ‘I’ll slap the s–t out of you.’"

Lancer added on X, "I want to make it very clear that I never told him to ‘shut up’ or anything close to that, he came up to me. All I wanted to do in the moment was get back to announcing the championship game."
