Clippers' Norman Powell Gushes Blood In Scary Injury Vs. Pistons

It was a scary moment Saturday afternoon at Crypto.com Arena. In the fourth quarter of the game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit Pistons, Clippers guard Norman Powell immediately hit the floor after Pistons center Jalen Duren unintentionally elbowed him in the face.

The 30-year-old was gushing blood as trainers ran to help.

Watch (if you're not queasy):

After several minutes, players and staff were able to help Powell off the court and into the tunnel — his face covered with a towel. But he certainly appeared to be moving gingerly as he made his way to the locker room.

Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as it looked.

Clippers head coach Ty Lue said after the game that Powell got stitches in his face, but he will be fine.

"I’m tough like that," Powell later told reporters (with a bandage across is face).

By the looks of it, Powell might not have to miss much time — if any at all. He'll likely have to clear some concussion tests before returning to the court, though.

Despite losing Powell for the final five minutes, the Clippers held on to beat the very-bad Pistons 112-106. Paul George stole the show with a team-high 33 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Kawhi Leonard was not far behind — finishing with 24 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

With the win, LAC overtook the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Western Conference’s No. 2 seed. It’s been a back-and-forth battle atop the West for several weeks, as four teams are separated by just one game.

The Pistons, meanwhile, are just happy to be included in the NBA. Detroit is a league-worst 8-44.
