USMNT vs. Mexico: USA Beats El Tri In Dramatic Fashion For Gold Cup Victory

On Sunday, the United States men's national team defeated Mexico 1-0 in the Concacaf Gold Cup final in Las Vegas, a match that didn't end until almost midnight Eastern Time.

With only a few minutes remaining, Miles Robinson hit the dramatic, game-winning goal to break the tie. It came right before the 117-minute mark, and FOX Soccer captured and shared the cool moment on Twitter. Check it out:






This is actually the second time the US has beaten El Tri in the last two months. Back in early June, they beat the El Tri in the Concacaf Nations League final.

This certainly gives coach Gregg Berhalter and company some much-needed momentum ahead of the World Cup qualifying, which will come in the fall.

Many would argue that Mexico was the better team on Sunday, but that ultimately didn't matter. The U.S. capitalized when they needed to and won as a result. Below is another tweet from FOX Soccer sharing the celebration as the match came to an end:
