Smash Mouth's Steve Harwell Calls It A Career, Retires After Wild Weekend Performance

Just days after one of the more bizarre moments in rock & roll history, legendary Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell is hanging up his microphone and calling it a career. Harwell, 54, announced his retirement from the band Tuesday.

In his final performance as the band's lead singer, Harwell told an upstate New York crowd “I’ll f–king kill your whole family, I swear to God,” and, “If I could suck my own d–k, I’d never leave the house.”

In a statement to the New York Post, Harwell's rep said it was time for Steve to focus on his physical and mental health.

“Steve has been dealing with long-term medical issues over the last eight years and during his last performance at the Big Sip stage, he suffered numerous symptoms directly linked with his current medical situation,” the rep noted to the Post. “As of today, Steve will be retiring from Smash Mouth to focus on his physical and mental health.”

A source told the tabloid that Harwell suffered an "episode" and that's what we're seeing on the TikTok video from the chaotic concert.

“Despite Steve’s best efforts to work through these ailments, he is heartbroken to share that it has become impossible for him to continue doing what he loves most, performing in front of the band’s millions of fans around the world,” his rep said.

And just like that, a rock career has come to an end. Never forget the great times.
Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets?
You'll never know if you don't go (go!)
You'll never shine if you don't glow
