Ron Rivera Must Rebuild Washington Football Culture

Videos by OutKick

In a report from the Washington Post, 15 women, who worked for the Redskins, accused members of Daniel Snyder’s inner circle of sexual harassment.

Snyder declined several requests for an interview, per the report. Head coach Ron Rivera did, however, go on record.

Rivera declined to address why Alex Santos and Richard Mann were dismissed. Though, he spoke on the new culture of the team and how he hopes it’s judged.

“We’re trying to create a new culture here,” Rivera said. “We’re hoping to get people to understand that they need to judge us on where we are and where we’re going, as opposed to where we’ve been”

Rivera, who was hired in January, isn’t going to get that wish immediately. Instead, as a leader, he will have to rebuild both the Washington football team and its culture.

  1. Ron Rivera is a good coach. He got the panthers to the super bowl. He had a tough time getting his team after that appearance. Sometimes you only get that one chance, and move on to try again. But what he has now is monumental to be the leader of the Washington team. I wish him luck and I am routing for him to be successful

  2. Hey Bobby,
I just have to say, I don’t GET how Coach Rivera has to REBUILD the Redskins CULTURE. And this is a lifelong NY GIANTS fan speaking.
The Washington Redskins have a STORIED and a GREAT history. All the great quarterbacks…Slingin’ Sammy Baugh…Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, Doug Williams, the first black QB to win a Super Bowl. Great coaches like Vince Lombardi, George Allen, and Joe Gibbs. Too many Hall of Famers to name here.
Correct me if I’m wrong…but the sexual harassment and misconduct happened up in the business offices, not around the field or the locker room. If I’m wrong please tell me.
We can ALL AGREE the current owner did virtually nothing to make their fans proud…but why should Ron Rivera have to do anything other than what he’s being paid to do…COACH THE TEAM, win some games, and make the fans proud of the team’s achievements. Thanks, Bobby!

  3. The Redskins name change and the sex allegations are part of some kind of NFL coupe to feed the left. I know that sounds odd, but the NFL has a finger in an imaginary dyke and it’s not holding back anti Redskins sentiment. It’s a lot bigger than that.

Snyder is not well liked by anyone other than a handful of owners. fans in DC hate him, but changing the name and the owner on a bad team is not like moving Cleveland to Baltimore; or moving the Bullets to DC and changing the name 30 years later.

Snyder and the Redskins Brand are Like some kind of Aztec Human Sacrifice. I love football, but why would I ever root for the Washington’s again. Or the NFL.

I broke up with DC before they broke up with me. HTTrrrrrrgh!🤧
