Rockets and Thunder Also Boycotting NBA Playoffs Game 5, What’s Next?

Players on the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder are also planning on boycotting their Game 5 playoff game today, Shams Charania reports:

This news comes after the Milwaukee Bucks declined to take the court for their Game 5 playoff matchup against the Orlando Magic, in the aftermath of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha. In doing so, the Bucks were willing to eat a forfeit. Charania further reports that the Magic have declined to accept the Bucks’ forfeit.

Bobby Marks, a former NBA GM, tweets about what this potentially means for the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement:

Where this all goes from here is anyone’s guess. Do the NBA players have a plan as to what would make it so they return to the court? When will the next game be? What measures of enforcement will the NBA take here?

We are in uncharted territory with all of this.

  1. The NBA/Disney #BLM bubble has turned into a social justice circle-jerk, giving a middle finger to the remainder of fans who still gave a damn. All over the shooting, still under investigation, of a felon with a warrant on him for sexual assault of a minor.

I wish the NBA would just go away for good.

  2. Shouldn’t they wait for the investigation to conclude? Do we now live in a complete mob rule society? The mob says guilty so who needs an investigation? I hope this is the final straw that destroys the NBA. They won’t be missed!

  3. cancel the season, college and pro football are about to start. Cancelling the season will really show everyone that they are serious about social justice. Maybe the players can donate there salaries to social justice or to the criminal that got shot. WHAT A JOKE…

Hello NBA nobody cares about your boycott.

  4. So lets piece this together using some data:

ESPN’s current ratings for the NBA playoffs are down 40%.

Since the last weekend in May through this past weekend, Chicago has had 127 murders occurring just during weekends. Many of these crimes involve African American victims and suspects. Some of the specific ages of victims include, a 1 year old boy, a 9 year old boy, a 10 year old girl and a toddler. (The source on the numbers is NBC Chicago and the Chicago Sun Times).

Perhaps the players should should start in Chicago and then eventually work their way over to Kenosha before their remaining fanbase moves on completely.

  5. Man these guys are really dumb a bunch of ingrates the owners seem to be just as stupid i say good riddance I’m not nor have i been watching this league could and probably should just go away.
