Martha's Vineyard Experiences Spike In COVID Cases Following Obama's Mass Bday Party

If you're still waiting on a birthday invitation from former president Barack Obama, thank your lucky stars that you missed out on the COVID super spreader event.

Following the massive birthday extravaganza last week at Martha's Vineyard, the island reported a total of 63 brand-new cases of COVID — their highest count for the specified timeframe in the past four months.

The report from the Daily Mail noted that health experts have refrained from blaming Obama's event, despite the uncharacteristic spike.

Public health official Maura Valley released a statement regarding the new cases and its relation (or lack of) to Obama's event. "At this time we're not aware of any cases connected to the Obama party. It's a little too early and the only way we're going to know is through comprehensive contact tracing."

Criticism was directed at Obama after claiming his guest list would be reduced to a COVID-friendly amount. Photos released over the weekend showcased massive tents sprawled across the island to host hundreds of guests. Leaked footage also displayed attendees disregarding a need for masks or social distancing, including 44 himself.

The scheduled birthday event went from Thursday to Sunday, welcoming a range of 300-400 people that were namely celebrities and other figures in power — including a visit from Climate Czar John Kerry, flying in on a private plane.

As a sect of Americans brace for more nationwide restrictions to cater to politicians' interpretation of the COVID data, the general population should instead focus on living life according to Obama's example and party like it's 2019.
