Video Released Of Richard Sherman Trying To Break Into In-Laws' House

Video obtained by KOMO News on Thursday contains footage leading up to Richard Sherman's arrest Wednesday morning. The home surveillance video was released on behalf of his in-laws, present at the scene alongside Sherman's wife, Ashley.

The 33-year-old free agent cornerback was reportedly heavily intoxicated and arrived at the house issuing threats of self-harm and addressing the family inside the home with a hostile tone.

The video shows Richard Sherman shouting at the residents to "come through" after repeatedly bashing the door in an attempt to break in. There are two separate instances where Sherman aggressively throws himself at the door. He also stumbles over himself.

As described in the call between his wife and a 911 operator, Sherman was under the influence, having drunk nearly two bottles of hard liquor, and threatened to kill himself during the eruptive scene at his in-laws' residence.

Sherman was accused of getting into a physical altercation with his wife's uncle, then getting combative with the police unit that arrived at the scene. Throughout the morning, Sherman was pepper-sprayed by his father-in-law and received a minor injury from a K-9 unit.

King County District Court Judge Fa'amomoi Masaniai ruled on Thursday that Sherman would be released under his own control and without bail after being placed in custody Wednesday morning.

Sherman is scheduled to appear in court on Friday and is prohibited from using any alcohol or drug-related substances following his release from jail. Sherman is also barred from visiting his in-laws' residence until further notice.
