Jon Gruden’s Son To Remain Raiders’ Strength Coach

The Raiders and Jon Gruden have parted ways, thanks to some unflattering emails in Gruden's past, but the team made it clear today that they won't be dropping a Deuce. Gruden's son, Deuce, is Las Vegas' assistant strength and conditioning coach, and he'll remain in that role despite his dad's Vegas exit.

Jon Gruden II, who more commonly goes by the name "Deuce," has been in the league since the 2016 season, and he's never strayed from the Gruden family tree. His first taste in the NFL came by way of his uncle, Jay Gruden, Washington's head coach from 2014 through the first five games of 2019.

Prior to the 2016 campaign, Uncle Jay hired Deuce as a strength and conditioning intern. Deuce remained part of Washington's strength and conditioning staff for two seasons before joining his old man with the Raiders.

A quick search through Google images would confirm that Deuce Gruden doesn't have an NFL job solely because of his last name. He has spent a bit of time on his craft...

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed that the younger Gruden will remain part of the silver and black via a late-Monday tweet: "Even with his father resigning tonight as the Raiders' head coach, Deuce Gruden remains the team's strength and conditioning assistant coach."

Despite all the filth floating around the Raiders' facility the last couple of days, at least the career of Gruden Number Two isn't in the toilet.
