Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Talk Concessions and Reworked Deals

Aaron Rodgers wants a way out of Green Bay, and it seems like the Packers are working with him to pave it.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on NFL Live Monday afternoon that Rodgers didn't plan on attending training camp, but the Packers are working with the veteran QB to modify the existing terms of his deal to get the MVP back on the field.

Rodgers' new agreement, once finalized, would help set up the quarterback's departure from Green Bay after this season — it would knock off the last year of his contract, allow for a review of the deal after this year, and allow for more discussions after this season, Schefter reports.

Rodgers’ contract would be adjusted with no loss of income this year to give the Packers more cap room now, and Schefter reports that mechanisms will be put in place to address the veteran QB's issues with the team.

Schefter said on NFL Live that before the re-worked contract talks, Rodgers was not likely to show up for training camp, but this changes things.

The Packers would agree to review Rodgers' situation at the end of this season — to ensure things like the necessary systems that were set in place are addressing the necessary culture changes — Schefter said on NFL Live Monday afternoon.

Earlier Monday, OutKick's Bobby Burack reported about Rodgers' last-season talks and the circulation of the Chicago Bulls "one final season" Instagram story post, and it seems like Green Bay is finally coming to the table to make that happen.

ESPN reports that in his annual state-of-the-football-department address to Packers' shareholders at Lambeau Field, general manager Brian Gutekunst included Rodgers in the "strong returning nucleus" while acknowledging there may still be things to work out with the reigning NFL MVP.

"We have been working tirelessly with Aaron and his representation to resolve the issues he has raised this offseason," Gutekunst said. "And we remain hopeful for a positive resolution."
