As recently as Oct. 3, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern admitted that the ‘Zero COVID‘ policy used to shut down the country was a failed strategy. Days later, Ardern has turned her back on that admission and reinstated indefinite lockdowns after 32 new cases arose in Auckland.
Not only is Ardern doubling down on the folly of past false promises with the Zero COVID strategy, she is also going full George Orwell by instructing citizens to surrender full compliance to government-backed COVID data and policy and to expel any other source of information.
“The most up-to-date information daily. You can trust us as a source of information. You can also trust the Director General of Health and the Ministry of Health,” started Ardern.
“Otherwise dismiss anything else. We will continue to be your single source of truth. We will provide information frequently. We will share everything we can. Everything else you see, take with a grain of salt. …
“New Zealanders must prepare. But do not panic, prepare. And when you see those messages, remember unless you hear it from us, it is not the truth.”
Government overreach has been a staple of the COVID-19 lockdowns, proving that those in power will truly never relinquish it willingly.

I think New Zealand is a prime candidate for a French-Style revolution. Follow this crooked path:
Some medium sized town finally decides they are done with this crap, they seize the mayor, and the police force. What in NZ to do? Send in the Military, of course. Only one problem: a few boys in the regiment have grandparents living there. In the chaos, someone strikes/kills one of the protesting grandparents and the grandson sees it. What will his response be?
What if that “grandson” a Colonel? What if he decides his father is more important that a mask mandate? What if his brigade agrees with him?

That’s just common sense for anybody who knows history.
Nothing increases my implicit trust in someone more than them saying repeatedly, unsolicited, “You can trust us. We are your only source of truth. Only listen to us. Bwahahaha! Oh excuse me….”
So your government leadership’s conscience automatically defaults to thinking we don’t trust you obviously? I see. Comforting. (as I slowly back away from them, feeling for the door knob behind me, with a worried look)
Their next general election is scheduled for 2023. Curious to see how that goes.
2023 is a long time from now.
