Clay Travis Sends Props to Ben Shapiro, Daily Wire for Working with Gina Carano

Two days after Disney found an excuse to fire Gina Carano for being a conservative, the former Mandalorian star announced she’s teaming up with Ben Shapiro and Jeremy Boreing’s Daily Wire to produce and star in an upcoming film.

“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano on Friday. “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Clay Travis gave credit to the Daily Wire team and spoke on the topic on Friday’s OutKick the Show (starts at the 11:20 mark).

In December, the Daily Wire announced that it was moving into the entertainment business. Minutes later, I wrote about the news, explaining how influential its success can be:

Those who routinely consume the news can easily underestimate the power entertainment has on the way Americans think, react, communicate and vote. If you merely consumed President Donald Trump’s presidency through the lens of Hollywood, you probably believe he’s racist, sexist, fat, dumb, and incompetent. Did a single major TV show or film say a nice word about him? If they tried, would the pitch make it past the networks distributing the content?

For eight years, entertainment creators told the same viewers that Barack Obama was cool, smart, likable, and exactly what the country needed. I’m not here to tell you what to think about either Obama or Trump, but like-minded directors and writers shouldn’t be either.

Thus, I give props to Ben Shapiro, Jeremy Boreing and the Daily Wire for taking on this risk.

The entertainment industry has long needed an alternative, and Shapiro and Boreing are providing one. The Daily Wire released its first film, Run Hide Fight, last month.

Most importantly, I’m glad to see Gina Carano land on her feet so quickly. Congratulations to all involved. You have Clay’s support and mine.

  1. Also worth noting – Gina’s comments were so offensive to the Jewish community that she was immediately hired by an orthodox Jewish man who actually practices the religion religiously.

All the proof you need that her firing from Disney had 0% to do with offending the Jewish community and 100% to do with calling out the phonies.

  2. I think you are missing one important point. She landed on her feet because she is famous. How many small businesses have been ruined by these people over the last 8 years?

In the last couple of years it began to affect famous people and politicians so now it is a problem?

How many people without the resources to fight back have been harmed?

While I would blame the totalitarian left for their actions. I would also have to include the news media like CNN & NYTimes for amplifying the reach of cancel culture by reporting on it always from the perspective the leftist instead of objective reporting.

There is another group that has to take responsibility for the cancel culture. That is the conservative politicians who did nothing because it didn’t affect them.

    • Totally understand your points. I’m a fan of The Mandalorian and really liked her kick ass character on the show, but I’ll have to admit, until a couple days ago, if you asked what her real name is, I would not have known, I would’ve had to watch the credits again. And now her name is all over the place, she is more well known, and when her movie is released, I will be buying a subscription to TheDailyWire.

And I agree, most of the conservative politicians don’t do anything. I think folks like Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Kristi Noem, Ron DeSantis have been standing up to the leftist/democrat media. But we do need more of them to stand up.

      • For years real conservatives have been told we have to vote for whatever Republicans offer up. We try to make a little difference in our individual primaries, but that’s about all we can do. One of the great things about Trump is that he exposed those establishment voices (Bill McCrystal, etc…) for what they are. And we’ve seen the real conservatives like Shapiro stand tall. And now with only corporate, and no voter, support, groups like the Lincoln Project clowns are being exposed too.

  3. Jumping into the CONservative Inc. Gatekeeper corral is hardly progress. Now she can be brought to heel under the neoconservative (fake conservative) pre-funded operation. Anything with the $$$ behind it should ring alarm bells all over the place.

This is why you never see an organic conservative movement in Hollyweird or anywhere else … the gatekeepers are right there to ‘rescue’ someone like Gina and continue their act as the Washington Generals to the Woke Progressive Globetrotters.
