Tony Romo Addresses His Taylor Swift 'Wife' Bit

It's time to start calling Tony Romo one of the greatest comedians of his generation.

The embattled CBS analyst is two weeks away from his big night in Las Vegas where he'll be calling Super Bowl LVIII with Jim Nantz after a brutal year that saw multiple rumblings over Romo not being prepared for big games

Romo, the $17 million-per-year analyst, was asked Thursday during a CBS Sports media session about one of the sticking points that fans keep pointing to as part of his tumultuous season: Why does he keep referring to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce's wife?

"It's a joke," Romo said during the Super Bowl media session. "Someone did that to me back in the day. ... People come up to me all the time (asking), 'What do you know?' People love it and go crazy for it.

"It's Taylor. She's just as big a personality as anybody in the world right now. I think it's a great thing that she's at football games. I think it just adds value, and I think our team does it the right way. ... It just comes out organically."

OMG, here the whole time I thought Tony Romo had a copy of the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce marriage certificate and they were actually married.

SMH, Tony! You got me! You low down dirty dawg!

A joke! It's a JOKE!

Now comes the hard question: Should Romo stay committed to the bit since he just revealed that it's all a joke or would that just ruin the bit?

It feels like if Tony goes back to the "wife" well during a broadcast where 500 million people are watching, it's like a comedian using the same material for too long. Or, maybe he says the hell with it, they're paying me $17 million, I'm under contract for like seven years and I don't care.

There you go. Something to keep your eyes and ears on during the Super Bowl. Will Tony Romo stay pot committed to his Taylor Swife "wife" joke?

Buckle up.
