Sounds Like A Night Of Bowling And Getting Tanked On Bud Light Ended Kid Rock's Boycott

Kid Rock has officially retired his Bud Light boycott. It's over. Done. Gone forever.

A little less than a year blasting a couple cases of the beer into oblivion after they teamed up with transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, Rock is back on the bandwagon.

At least that's what he told Joe Rogan in a long, roller coaster of an interview that dropped Thursday afternoon.

Apparently, Anheuser-Busch was so determined to win Kid Rock back over that CEO Brendan Whitworth flew to Nashville for a night of shenanigans.

"(We) broke bread, got f--ked up on Bud Light, bowled," Rock said of the visit. "At the end of the day, they got the message and I’m not someone who holds a grudge.

"Honest to God, I was having a lot of fun… one of the things I told him, as a friend, somebody who doesn’t want to see this brand destroyed anymore…. ‘You got smacked… a pretty hard spanking, and I don’t want to hold your head underwater, drown this company and put people out of work… you got the message."

Kid Rock is back on the Bud Light train

Well, there you have it. Boycott over!

Look, I'll be honest – I never thought it would have any legs at all. Those things never work, and they're usually silly. Canceling something is dumb.

You can choose not to drink it – and believe me, plenty of folks did – but at some point, it's probably time to move on.

Clearly, Anheuser-Busch did get the message. Sales tanked so bad last year I'm not sure how they couldn't have.

How bad was it? Well, Bud Light is no longer the No. 1 selling beer in America. That spot has belonged to Modelo since August.

So, yeah – I'd say the message was heard loud and clear. Jobs were lost, too. A lot of them.

Now, Kid Rock basically saying it was all in good fun and just a goof and he was just shooting cases of Bud Light because he wanted to unload some ammo is a bit of a cop-out, but whatever. It is what it is.

I guess you can sort of give him credit for holding his ground when they wanted him to come on as a sponsor.

Kid left that job to Peyton Manning and Shane Gillis.

"We had a good meeting before hand trying to think if there’s something I could do with AB but I just didn’t feel comfortable with it," he said. "I threw out some ideas that scared the living eff out of them, but at the end of the day I don’t feel right taking their money."

I'd love to hear those ideas, personally. Oh well. Guess we never will. Sad.

Anyway, feel free to continue slugging down Yuengling. Frankly, it's better anyways.

Or don't.

Your call!
