New 'Shogun' Preview Promises Intense Carnage

A new "Shogun" teaser has hit the internet, and the promos for the show continue to be awesome.

The plot of the upcoming FX/Hulu series is described as, "Based on James Clavell’s novel, FX’s Shōgun is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village."

Now, as I've said before, I've never read the book from James Clavell. I had dozens of people email me at David.Hookstead@outkick.com to let me know I need to ASAP.

I'm sure it will eventually make it on my list of things to do, but the content game at OutKick requires a lot of time and dedication. What I do know is that I will definitely watch "Shogun" when it premieres February 27th.

New "Shogun" teaser hits the web.

A new teaser for the upcoming series hit the web, and I can guarantee it will only further elevate expectations around the series.

There's no question at all that the show is going to be electric as viewers watch wars unfold and alliances form or break. Fire it up below.

What do we all think of the latest preview at the series ahead of its February 27 premiere? I think it looks damn good, and you'd have to be crazy to think differently.

Now, will it live up to the book? I don't know, but you can all let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com what you think about how it holds up.

What I do know for sure is FX makes hits. It's the network responsible for classics like "Justified," "The Shield," "Sons of Anarchy," "Under the Banner of Heaven" and "Always Sunny."

Instead of a crime show or a biker series, fans will now go back several hundred years to Japan to watch the chaos build up and explode.

It's going to be an awesome year for TV, and adding "Shogun" to the lineup starting February 27 is something I'm excited to do. Make sure to check back for a full review once we have one.
