Rev It Up: Sturgis Motorcyle Rally Will Go Off Again This Year

Looking forward to riding your hog to Sturgis to suck down some cold ones, see some old friends and raise some hell? There's great news out of South Dakota where Sturgis Motorcycle Rally organizers say the show will go on starting Friday as local TV stations around the country say it'll be a Delta variant breeding ground.

700,000 people are expected to show up to this year's party that will include Republican Governor Kristi Noem appearing in a charity ride and Kid Rock playing a show on Sunday. Stone Temple Pilots take the stage Monday with Clint Black showing up Tuesday, ZZ Top Wednesday, Anthrax Thursday, Shinedown Friday and P.O.D. Saturday.

In other words, it's back to business as usual while the blue checkmarks lose their minds. According to the Associated Press, one COVID death was linked to the 2020 Sturgis rally. Meanwhile, in 2019, there were 9 deaths related to Sturgis activities before the world even knew of anything called COVID-19. In 2020, you were more likely to die of a fatal motorcycle crash at Sturgis than you were from COVID -- there were five riders killed in 2020 crashes.

Ahh, but this year we have this thing called the Delta variant and now the experts say you're really going to die if you go to Sturgis. The Associated Press notes that unlike Lollapalooza where concertgoers had to show a vaccination card or proof of a negative test -- let's take a look at how tough it was to get through those Lolla vaxx checkpoints LOLOLOL -- Sturgis precautions are "minimal and optional."

They'll suggest that everyone will die just like last year, yet they won't report that just one person died of COVID at Sturgis in 2020. BUT THIS TIME IT'S SUPER CONTAGIOUS AND IT'S MORE DEADLY!

“We should be declaring a great and resounding success,” Stanford Professor of Medicine Dr. Jay Bhattacharya said last week. “The COVID emergency is over. We still need to take COVID seriously, and there are still vulnerable people here and abroad left to vaccinate. But we can start to treat it as one disease among many that afflict people rather than an all-consuming threat.”

The fear porn won't affect rally numbers. In fact, organizers say this year's event could reach record levels that will rival those last seen at the 75th Stugis rally held in 2015. "If the rally reaches an attendance of 750,000, that would equal 85% of the state’s 2019 estimated population of 884,659," Keloland Media Group reported.
