Morgan Wallen Addresses Recent Arrest During A Concert In Mississippi

Morgan Wallen made fun of himself at a concert at Ole Miss University in Oxford, MS, Saturday night, while also addressing his arrest in Nashville.

Fans crowded into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for Wallen’s latest stop on his One Night at a Time World Tour. Despite a forecast that included a strong likelihood of downpours, fans stood in the stadium ready to cheer on the "Chasin’ You" singer.

Before the concert began, Wallen’s team displayed a message on the jumbotron indicating that nothing was going to stop him from performing.

"Ladies and gentlemen, fortunately Morgan has a full voice and is very able to perform tonight. Therefore, he’s ready to run this s— back and make things right…," the message said. "No reason to make your way to the exits for the next two hours because Morgan and the boys are about to rock Oxford’s face off!!!"

The message was a reference to a concert Wallen had to cancel at the venue last year, when he had trouble with his vocal cords.

As the concert progressed, Wallen told the crowd a story before singing "98 Braves." He mentioned that at one point in high school, he was so poorly behaved that he almost got cut from his baseball team. Wallen then dovetailed this to make a comment on his recent arrest in Nashville.

"I had a coach, I played baseball, his name was Coach Davidson. When I was a junior in high school, I almost got kicked off the team. I was a li’l rowdy back then. I guess I’m still a little rowdy now," he said. "But coach… he never gave up on me, and there’s been a lot of people who never gave up on me – some of them in this building tonight… you guys included.… I just wanted to shout out that part of my life."

The country singer was arrested after throwing a chair from the top of a building in Nashville earlier this month. He was hit with three felony charges, and offered an apology for his actions early last week.

Wallen’s next stop on the tour will be in Indio, CA, later this month. Bailey Zimmerman, Nate Smith and Lauren Watkins, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Jon Pardi will be some of the artists performing with him as the tour progresses.
