FDNY Boss Planning To Punish Staffers Who Booed Letitia James, Cheered For Trump

FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh has launched an investigation to seek out and "educate" a group of staffers who booed New York Attorney General Letitia James (and cheered for Donald Trump) during a ceremony on Thursday.

Because nothing says democracy like hunting down and punishing those who disagree with you.

An email sent by FDNY Chief of Department John Hodges warned that a reckoning was coming for those involved. And the memo sure sounded like a threat.

"BITS [Bureau of Investigation and Trials] is investigating this, so they will figure out who the members are. I recommend they come forward. I have been told by the commissioner it will be better for them if they come forward and we don’t have to hunt them down," Hodges wrote.

"The [deputy chiefs] shall direct the captain of the company to make a list of those who come forward and send it directly to [FDNY operations]. I realize members might not come forward, but they should know that there is clear video of the entire incident, and they will be contacted by BITS if they don’t."

James had been invited to speak at Thursday's event, which was held to honor The Rev. Pamela Holmes — the department's second female chaplain and the first black woman to hold that title.

Unhappy with the AG's soft-on-crime policies and weird obsession with former President Trump, some members of the crowd mercilessly booed her as she took the stage. And they erupted in chants of "Trump! Trump! Trump!"

Now, the FDNY boss is out to get them.

FDNY Commissioner Labeled As ‘Fascist Pit Bull’ For Response To Letitia James Incident

According to a list of talking points obtained by the New York Post, once Kavanagh tracks down the culprits, "They will come to headquarters to be educated why their behavior is unacceptable."

Now, many are calling her out for her blatant abuse of power. One FDNY retiree told The Post most of the hecklers were off duty and not in uniform.

"It was a political stunt for the city to have the AG there," he said. "When it backfired, they sent their fascist pit bulls after guys for exercising their First Amendment rights."

Constitutional and criminal law attorney Alan Dershowitz also blasted the FDNY’s response to the incident.

"Firefighters have an absolute constitutional right to boo the attorney general, and the government has no power to punish them for it," Dershowitz said. "So efforts to get the names of the booers is an effort by the government to chill free speech and is unconstitutional."

Last month, James’ office won a $454 million civil fraud judgment against Trump, which found him guilty of inflating his wealth. Now, she's threatening to seize his assets.

And according to one Brooklyn firefighter the booing was a direct response to the AG's political "witch hunt."

"She has no problem bragging that she convicted Trump," he said. "So this is how hard-working New Yorkers, who put their life on the line, feel about her actions."
