Bondi Beach Hero Who Helped Stop Massacre Gets Standing Ovation At Sydney Cricket Ground
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.
One of the heroes who helped thwart a mass shooting at Bondi Beach, Australia last month is getting the recognition he deserves.
Ahmed al-Ahmed, the hero who risked his life to stop two radical Muslim shooters in the Dec. 14 attacks at a popular Australian beach, was honored at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Al-Ahmed was seen with his arm in a sling while at the cricket grounds on Day 1 of the Final Ashes Test match and received a standing ovation for his heroic act nearly one month ago.
He entered through a line of both Australian and English players and paused midway through his walk across the pitch to put his hand over his heart, as he was overwhelmed by the applause.
It was an event that was long overdue for the Syrian-born Australian man. As you can tell he's still hurting, both physically and emotionally from his selfless act.
On the first day of Hannukah, several hundred families were enjoying the festivities at the popular Jewish community beach spot when a father and son opened fire on an unsuspecting public.
All in all, 16 people (including the younger gunman) were killed, but many more lives could have been claimed if not for the heroism of al-Ahmed and the first responders, who were also honored at SCG.
Plenty of X users from all over the world piled into the comments section to show their support and admiration for al-Ahmed, and the praise was well-deserved.
This was long overdue, and honestly, it's the least they could do for a guy like Ahmed al-Ahmed, who has earned every bit of praise and admiration that comes his way.
It won't make the pain of that day go away for any of the families of the victims, but it was a classy gesture that had been a long time coming and is, hopefully, the first of many.
