Clay Joins Gov. Mike Huckabee To Discuss Left-Wing Activism In Sports And How It Creates Propaganda For China

OutKick founder Clay Travis joined Gov. Mike Huckabee on an episode of The People's Podcast to discuss how U.S. athletes and their anti-American grandstanding are utilized as propaganda by opposing regimes, such as China and Russia, to prop up their politics by stepping on American principles.

As American athletes denounce the ideals of a market-based economy and the general free will available only in America, Clay says that there has been a progression of political activism within American pro sports for the past few years, and it is now playing out on a global stage.

"To me, this is the next step beyond what you've seen from protests in pro sports," Clay said. "… Now we're talking about protests as the United States national anthem plays, in what is supposed to be a majestic recognition of your accomplishments in the context of your nation."

Such anti-American athletes are rarely held accountable by the mainstream media, and Clay argues that media headlines about burning the American flag or kneeling for the national anthem devalue the enjoyment of watching these events. He says they also provide case studies for China to use in their pro-communism campaigns.

"You may think when you kneel for the anthem in the United States that you're some sort of hero, but understand that your kneeling is being used by the Chinese, by the Russians, as propaganda to reflect the fact that what they're selling to their populace is, 'See, America's not that great. There are so many people who are protesting what is going on there. This is capitalism failing. This is a market-based economy.' ...

This is what happens when you turn your back on your country. In places like China, if that happened, your entire family would disappear. So it's not seen as a great thing when people are defying their country, even though that would be the argument of what I call the 'left-wing brigade' on social media."
