Gina Carano Sues Disney With Help From Elon Musk

Gina Carano is not taking her firing from Disney's ‘The Mandalorian’ lying down, and she has some help in her efforts.

Carano infamously was let go from Lucasfilm and Disney after tweeting about COVID policies by making an analogy to the Holocaust, despite the companies ignoring when other liberal actors made posts with similar themes.

It was one of the most prominent, obvious examples of "cancel culture" in recent memory; a popular actress with a significant following removed from a major Disney television show for sharing the wrong opinions. Carano's firing also exposed the rampant hypocrisy at the heart of the Disney corporation. CEO Bob Iger appealed to his first amendment rights in his fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, while firing Carano for exercising her first amendment rights.

Now, Carano is fighting back. On Tuesday, she announced she'd filed suit against Disney for wrongful termination and "discriminatory treatment." The lawsuit, with financial backing from Elon Musk's X, alleges that she was fired for being unwilling to "fully comply" with Disney's preferred narratives.

"A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated," the lawsuit reads.

Gina Carano Lawsuit Shows Musk's Commitment To Free Speech

Carano alleges in the lawsuit that she was fired in part for "refusing to support movements and ideologies with which she did not agree," essentially the textbook definition of cancel culture. For too long, woke corporations like Disney have acted at the whims of current progressive dogma, with ruthless enforcement of far left cultural demands.

Following along with whatever The Current Thing demands, whether that be the Black Lives Matter movement, COVID policies and mandates, or transgender issues, or risk your job. Carano and X are suing to fight back against the relentless push for ideological conformity.

According to the suit, she lost out on "millions" of dollars in income as a result of Disney's decision. And they intend to finally hold the company responsible for their "bullying" and "retaliatory actions."

"But the rule of law still reigns over the Defendants’ empire. And Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions—actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income," the lawsuit said.

It's about time.

Disney Benefits From Fear

Most actors, actresses or studio employees are too scared to cross political views with Disney or other openly progressive companies. Precisely because they know a fate like Carano's awaits them.

Toe the left wing party line or be fired.

While we won't know the outcome of this suit for some time, the fact that Disney is being forced to deal with the repercussions of its own actions is a welcome step forward. The only way to change policies and C-suite minds is financial incentives.

Hopefully Carano and X's suit is the first of many to provide many of those financial incentives to end their one-sided "bullying."
