Yes, Deshaun Watson Will Be In Texans Camp, Though Still Seeking A Trade

Deshaun Watson is in legal hot water and reportedly wants to be traded, but reportedly is headed to training camp with the Houston Texans anyway.

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Watson will be ready, willing and presumably able for the start of camp. Oh, and he still wants traded.

Of course, all of that is nothing compared to the sexual assault allegations by 20-plus massage therapists hanging over Watson's head. But Watson remains available to play because he remains clear of the Commissioner's Exempt List, as no major violation has been found.

In other words, the NFL is taking a innocent-until-proven-otherwise approach.

As Adam Maya of NFL.com relayed, "With no criminal charges imminent, the onus at the moment is on Watson and the Texans to work out how to proceed, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. The club has not commented publicly on Watson's status since April, when new general manager Nick Caserio said it would "respect the legal process." Watson's last public comments came in March, when he denied any wrongdoing following the initial lawsuits."

The Texans open camp on Wednesday. They will clearly have no shortage of quarterbacks, wisely adding to depth chart given the uncertainty facing Watson. Since the end of last season, they signed veterans Tyrod Taylor and Jeff Driskel, and selected Davis Mills in the third round of the 2021 draft.
