Woke Spotify Employees Threaten to Strike If Joe Rogan Podcasts Aren’t Censored

Spotify really does employ some gutless hacks.

Per Digital Music News, a bunch of random Spotify staffers are considering walking out or a full-blown strike if the service doesn’t allow direct editorial oversight of The Joe Rogan Experience.

“Some of the group’s demands have already been met by Spotify management, though a refusal to allow further changes is stirring talk of a high-profile walkout or strike,” the report says. “According to preliminary plans shared with Digital Music News, the strike would principally involve New York-based Spotify employees, and would be accompanied by protests outside Spotify’s Manhattan headquarters. Other aspects would involve media appearances and coordination with other activist organizations.”

This is embarrassing. The woke Spotify employees are demanding content flags, trigger warnings, references to fact-checked information, and the option to block an episode from publication.

As I said last week, Spotify paid $100 million for Joe Rogan. Not a toned-down version who bows to these social justice warriors.

“Joe Rogan was brought to Spotify to be Joe Rogan. It’s absurd for any employee to think a controlled version is reasonable. Rogan’s appeal is that he’s fearless, interested, and independent; three threats to mainstream media. He doesn’t bow to the mob. Rogan invites the canceled on for hours.”

What gets me: what leverage do the staffers have? Rogan elevates Spotify’s brand substantially. With exclusivity, Spotify will compete with Apple Podcasts. That’s what Rogan brings; do the angry employees demanding change equal that?

Rogan must be furious. He’s an outlier. He takes on the establishment. Now, he’s taking checks from a company full of cowards trying to ruin yet another industry.

  1. So far Rogan has fucked things up. His studio looks like bad CGI of the inside of a toaster. He looks like a tomato in it. Many of his podcasts are missing. He already apologized for something he didn’t need to and now Spotify SJWs are trying to take him off the air at a company that he JUST started working with.

Joe Rogan is going to go the way of Matt and Trey of SP. They give up a little control and they get neutered. SP has never been as good as it was after Comedy Central censored the Mohamed picture. They should have gone straight to their own web series instead of continually re-upping with CC.

Bad choice and quality have been steadily declining for years.

Break the contract guys. Put SP to rest it had a stupid great run. Create something new and you will have legions of fans that follow…or should I say, in the case like mine, come back.

    • He needs to publicly comment on this stuff. I mean, I don’t follow his podcast really but I love the fact it exists because I know what he does and what it represents. If he’s being silent about this, that’s bullshit and even I know that’s not really Joe Rogan. He needs to put these pukes who call everybody to the right of Mao Zedong ‘alt-right’, ‘far-right’, or ‘nazis’ IN THEIR PLACE.

    • For sure, Andres…and cutting off their noses to spite their faces…Rogan brings increased revenues, visibility, a magnet for other big time talent, etc. which should lead to more top line income for raises, employees benefits, etc. Go figure. If it was me, I’d wanna let the guy go crazy and make money for everybody lol.

  2. The threat of termination would quell these employees. “Strike, that’s fine”. And what happens if Spotify complies? Does Joe Rogan go to his contract and say, “We agreed, and you’re in breach of contract”? That would cost Spotify exponentially more than the salaries of these employees.

    • I think this is pretty simple, Gary. When somebody bids $100 million for your services…you get the deal done. End of story. Rogan is a comedian and social commentator, not a tech/media expert. Why would he turn down $100 million guaranteed in hopes of building some sort of alternative platform? I mean, I realize Magic Spoon is expensive…but it would take a hell of a lot of cereal in order for them to dish out that kind of ad money. Reports were that Rogan’s contract includes editorial control. So if Spotify breaches, Rogan is back to square one on distribution, except now he’s gonna have $100 million in his pocket, and could do the show with no sponsors at all.

  3. Nice read, Bobby. It’s up to Spotify to tell their employees to “eat d*cks” and get back to work. There are a lot of unemployed folks who would jump in there in a minute. I used to work with Joe at the UFC and I know that he most likely can’t stand this bullsh*t. I just hope the contract he signed prevents a lot of this nonsense. I guess we’ll see. These morons claim to hate fascists, yet they’re the ones trying to silence free thought, free speech, free expression.

    • They ARE the fascists. They put fists in their twitter avatar, with all five digits showing. It’s on flags. That is a symbol of collectivism, which has its roots in the Roman Senate’s fasces, a bundle of sticks surrounding an axe, which represented the collective power of the senators over the world. The word ‘fascism’ comes from that latin word. Communism, fascism – two sides of the same authoritarian coin. Hitler invaded the Soviet Union because he thought the sky was blue, and the Soviets thought that grass is green.

Interestingly, our government buildings and general iconography have more than a few instances of having some form of fasces on them. Our founders conscientiously used this as a form of association with the Roman Empire. Just wait until the woke crowd somehow catches wind of THAT. Then they’ll ban study of the Romans. But when someone is a part of an organization that doesn’t just use that iconography, but acts like a fascist group, they are a fucking fascist.

  4. If you don’t like the company you work for because they moved away from your ideals, go and get another job. It happens all the time. If you can’t get another job, do what you can from within, or quit. Stop being a baby by going public with your grievances to apply pressure on management. They are doing their job well- making money for the company.

  5. What a bunch of idiots: they sign a contract with this guy for a 100 million dollars and you don’t think they’re looking for ways to shave a little overhead here and there to help pay for that huge contract!? Do your fahqin jobs or they can find plenty of people whod be happy to work with Rogan.
