Megastar Ed Sheeran is apparently in love with more than just the shape of you. The English pop star also shares an affinity for the Music City-based Tennessee Titans. Sheeran’s fandom dates back to 2013, when he began following the Titans and the NFL while residing in Nashville.
“I’ve always been a Titans fan,” Sheeran told SiriusXM’s “The Pulse.”

American football was an acquired taste for Sheeran, who was raised and still resides in England. “It’s a sport that, as an English person, you don’t grow up watching or understanding. So when I first came over to America, I just didn’t get it. I just didn’t get it,” Sheeran told SiriusXM. “All it took was one person to sit me down and be like, ‘These are the rules, and this is how it played.’ And I love it now.”
Sheeran didn’t just fall in love with the sport, he also gained an affection for the Titans.
“The Venn diagram of my fans and NFL fans is pretty bleak, but you know, I lived in Nashville for pretty much all of 2013 and pretty much all of 2018, so I’ve always been a Titans fan. I follow (the NFL) back home,” added Sheeran. “I have the season pass for the TV thing to watch it back in England, and I followed the playoffs last year. I just enjoy watching it.”
For the first time since the 2019 season, the NFL is returning to London for a pair of games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, allowing Sheeran to witness the action on his home turf. “My dad and wife actually went to go and see the Titans, actually, at I think Wembley or Tottenham Stadium,” said Sheeran, referencing the 2018 Titans – Chargers tilt at Wembley.
The Titans won’t make the trip across the pond this fall, so the Sheeran family will have to settle for a Falcons – Jets snoozer or Jaguars – Dolphins matchup for their football fix.
London fans should hope the Grammy winner finds the time to attend the Jets game, since he’d be the only one inside the stadium capable of providing a big hit.
