Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Says Her State is Somehow Getting Worse Despite her Lockdown Demands

Staunch lockdown advocate Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) appeared on MSNBC with Chris Hayes to defend Michigan’s rising COVID rates. Whitmer’s plan was to explain it wasn’t her fault, however, she ended up inadvertently admitting her extreme, illogical demands are rather pointless.

“We have some of the strongest protocols in the country and yet this virus has come raging back,” Whitmer says.

“And yet,” huh?

For 12 months, Whitmer has implemented some of the strictest and most ineffective COVID protocols in the country. Under Whitmer’s rule, Michigan has taken the opposite approach of Florida and now Texas, a state where businesses have surged and COVID cases have dropped. Whitmer’s orders are doing little to stop the spread, proving to be a costly, damning waste of time.

According to data from The Federalist, even with 24 percent of Michigan residents vaccinated and 36 percent of residents having received at least one dose, the seven-day moving average sits at 7,863 cases. That’s a — wait for it — 39 percent increase in the last 14 days. During that same two-week span, fatality rates are up 87 percent. Michigan currently ranks third in the nation for COVID-19 positivity rates, at 16.1.

Translation: whatever Whitmer is trying to do is not working.

“Michigan is going through a major spike in cases, including having the dubious distinction of nine of the top 10 metro areas for COVID spread in the country,” Buck Sexton wrote this week. “This is all happening in a state with a notoriously extreme lockdown advocate, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, calling the shots. Michigan still has mask mandates (indoor and outdoor) and has had many of these in place since July 10 of last year. It’s all Fauci-approved, and it’s failing.”

States like Michigan and California have sacrificed an entire year of their businesses, education, youth social development, and sanity. What have they gotten in return?

Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted he is confused. Without saying so directly, Whitmer has admitted the same.

  1. A Liberals Outlook

    If Liberals are in charge:
    It works -> it works
    It does not work -> we need more money

    If Conservatives are in charge:
    It works -> racism
    If does not work -> inept racism

  2. But worry not residents of the great State of Michigan, my two senior staff members and their families were able to enjoy themselves out of state while on spring break all while I was telling all of you to not go on spring break.

    You get what you vote for Michigan.

  3. Poll questions:

    All the men above who chose to point out the gender of this one governor, how many of you are divorced?

    If you are not divorced, do you express these opinions to your wife and to your daughters, that they are too stupid to vote and their only role in life is to raise children? Do you?

    • I’d tell them women’s suffrage was important in the Communist and Marxist movements.

      Ever read up on what anti-suffragette women’s arguments were? They knew where their power lied and it wasn’t voting.

    • This is a fair question, CG, since failure and graft exist at all levels and across both (all?) genders. My main issue is that what is happening now would never happen in a more masculine society, since it was mostly men wielding pitchforks and torches back in the day. But all of us have been domesticated enough that we will let these things happen with no recourse to the physical, which is the only way any of this will ever change. Otherwise, events will continue apace. In history it was the sword that brought about the Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, and other events that put limits to government. It was not emails and the “violence is never acceptable!” grade-school platitudes that have pacified everyone.

    • ChiefsGirl,

      I can’t help but feel for you here. I can’t believe these replies, as they are exactly like the idiots they try to condemn. You are so right that her gender is not the problem. The problem is her mentality. It is no different than the idiot governors in California, Oregon, Washington, New York, New Jersey and PA, most of which are male. The gender is just a quick thing to point at, no different than racism. While God did make men and women different, He did have many women that played important roles in the Bible, including leadership!

    • CG15:

      I’m with you on this. These guys have been hurt and/or never get laid. We live in a world of absolutes – on one end you have idiot 3rd wave feminists and on the other end you have bitter dudes who think women should be servants.

      I think there’s some middle ground here. Nothing wrong with traditional gender roles but the idea that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they’re too emotional is a fucking joke. However, white suburban women and unmarried/professional single women (who’s biological clocks are ticking) largely decided this last election and frequently vote for leftist candidates.

      • Same. Chiefs Girl 15 obviously can hold her own but damn some of these comments its like we have a bunch of incels on here. The only man threatened by a woman is an insecure one. Just like I don’t look at someone’s race when making decisions I don’t look at a person’s gender either. Men and women can be honorable upstanding folks and just as equally gaping assholes. Whitmer sucks because of her politics not because she is a female governor. I understand traditional familial roles, heck my wife has been a stay at home mom for my entire legal career but if something happened to me she could and would support our kids and family. I encourage my daughters not to have to rely on some man to support them financially, be a professional or own a business and if you want a family go for it but don’t wait for a man to take care of you.
