Watson Not Happy Texans Haven’t Spoken To Bieniemy, Unhappy With Hiring Of GM Caserio

Houston Texans quarterback DeShaun Watson showed up in a lot of headlines on Thursday after word came down that he was unhappy with the team and might just demand a trade.

Now word comes down that Watson has a new coach in mind for the team, but it’s one whom the team has not yet even spoken to, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Watson not only has been advocating for the team to bring in Bieniemy for at least a chat, but he also wasn’t a huge fan of the team hiring new GM Nick Caserio, whom the franchise brought over from New England.

SI.com’s Albert Breer reports that Chiefs QB Pat Mahomes put in a “strong word” for Bieniemy, which then led to Watson requesting that the team bring Bieniemy in for a chat, which has not yet happened.

Watson’s unhappiness could be a combo of the Bieniemy situation along with the hiring of Caserio after the team said that the quarterback would be consulted about who would run the team next.

Watson’s current four-year deal worth $156 million could scare away some teams, though Houston wouldn’t likely trade him anyway.

Thus far, the Texans have spoken to three head coaching candidates: former Lions and Colts coach Jim Caldwell, former Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, and Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

  1. Eric is kinda busy right now. He’s got a chance for a consecutive Super Bowl opportunity. (Any team of Florida, Georgia, or Texas is a good fit for him. Don’t go to NY or Cali. Too much drama outside of the team.)

  2. Watson is becoming an annoying, whiny little bitch who needs to stay in his lane and collect that sweet paycheck he gets every month. Just shut up and throw the ball. You’re a player, not an owner or GM.

  3. It annoys me when star players over reach and think they have a say in a teams hiring decisions. So Watson wants to pick the Texans next GM and Coach? What’s next? He wants input on free agency, draft picks, and managing the salary cap too? Deshaun – stay in your lane and let the people above you do their jobs.
