Von Miller Out To 'Kill' Browns Backup Offensive Tackles
Thoughts and prayers in advance for Browns offensive tackles James Hudson and Alex Taylor, whom Broncos edge rusher Von Miller is looking "to kill" on Thursday night.
The Browns and Broncos will do battle on Thursday Night Football, with Cleveland set to field an offense comprised of mostly backups. Quarterback Baker Mayfield, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and offensive tackles Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin are all expected to be out, leaving Miller with one thing on his mind.
"I will play well," Miller said during his Tuesday press conference. "I don’t know who the tackle is that I’m going against, but I’m going to kill him. I’m going to kill him and the other guy on the other side. I’m going to play extremely well. I’m going to make plays for my team. I’m going to set us up to win this game.”
The 32-year-old is fully recovered after missing the entire 2020 season with an ankle injury, and the results have shown that. Miller has registered 4.5 sacks on the season, just outside the top 10 in league leaders.
Miller has produced despite not having another consistent pass rusher opposite of him. Bradley Chubb was supposed to be that but was placed on injured reserve in September with an ankle injury.
With a host of injuries, the Broncos are just a two-point underdog on the road, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Case Keenum will get the start in place of Mayfield, his first as a member of the Browns.
With Miller fired up, it might be a good thing for head coach Kevin Stefanski to sit out his franchise quarterback in Mayfield against the Broncos. Miller is looking to show he's still an elite pass rusher and throwing Mayfield and his fully torn left labrum out there to get pummeled by Miller would not have been wise.
