VIDEO: Rachel Nichols Addresses Leaked Audio About Maria Taylor

Videos by OutKick

Monday on The Jump, Rachel Nichols addressed the leaked audio clip of her discussing ESPN’s decision to bypass her and name Maria Taylor host of NBA Countdown.

“The first thing they teach you in journalism school is don’t be the story,” Nichols begins. “I don’t plan to break that rule today.

“But I also don’t want to let this moment pass without saying how much I respect and how much I value our colleagues here at ESPN. How deeply, deeply sorry I am for disappointing those I hurt, particularly, Maria Taylor.”

In the leaked conversation, Nichols didn’t say anything for which she should apologize, aside from her laughable belief that her bosses voted for Donald Trump, of course.

This audio was held for an entire year and leaked three weeks before Maria Taylor’s contract expires. The clip was leaked to assist in Taylor’s unreasonable demands for $8 million a year.

Nichols just gave the leaker exactly what it wanted: she helped paint the pampered Maria Taylor as a victim.

  1. Gets to say her disingenuous, “only apologizing because she got caught” opening statement. Then hides behind two former NBA players, both black, as her character witnesses.
Would a host who isn’t seen as a woke SJW princess be accorded the same treatment?
Of course not. That person would be gone, banished from ESPN and everybody else’s airwaves, if they happened to vote GOP or question the roots of BLM.
So this is nothing but desperate CYA ratings theater.
Now Nichols will be like the blackface-or-KKK-hood-wearing governor of Virginia, doubling down on woke subservience in exchange for being allowed to stay on the job.

  2. Let this be a lesson for her and others in the sports broadcasting world stick to sports on your shows. Start social justice programs, Diversity programs if you want to talk about that, we all are sinners and not perfect so stay in your lane in talk sports she’s getting a taste of her in medicine. Hopefully now the jump will stick to sports 🏀

  3. LOL what a bunch of dicks” deeply deeply sorry” wtf acting like she killed someone all these idiots are overly sensitive and now they are eating their own too fucking funny so glad I ditched espn years ago what a clown show

  4. This looks like the trainwreck you just can`t stop looking at. Apparently, ESPN sat down that white girl and made sure she understood her place at “The worldwide leader in woke”. You start kissing Maria Taylor`s ass…….or else. What were watching is a network killing each other over black power. What a diseased place that has to be to work at. I`ll just sit back and enjoy watching the burning.

  5. This is a great example of leadership and values vacuum. What in the holy f&ck does “we need to have further conversations” actually mean? What action will result? Nothing. They’re all completely full of shit, and can go to hell. I have no background with Taylor, Nichols, or anyone else, it is complete horse shit. Hey, you got hacked, but you didn’t recognize i have solidarity with my people that often do this from Romania, so you should be OK with it…. That makes as much f*ing sense as the people attacking someone trying to hold to their contract. They’re contracts for a reason, and you can’t decide not to honor them because it’s gay pride month, or you feel like you need more representation in the boardroom, etc.
