Urban Meyer's Wife Leaves Twitter After Receiving Hateful Messages

The Urban Meyer saga has taken another turn, as his wife, Shelley, announced today that she will no longer use Twitter amid the viral video of her husband receiving a lap dance at a bar over the weekend.

In her last tweet, Shelley thanked all of her followers for the love over the years but said that she would be deactivating her account.

Shelley cited all the "hate, vitriol, slander, trash" that came her way in the past week for why she is leaving Twitter. She also commented directly on what her husband did, saying that everyone makes mistakes.

"We all make mistakes-we are all sinners," she wrote. "If you think you aren't? Then cast the first stone."

Meyer's actions immediately caused a stir among fans and even his own team. Players were reported to have not respected the way that Meyer handled it, as NFL insider Michael Silver reported that Jaguars players said that Meyer lost most of the credibility in the stadium that he had.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan was not too pleased with Meyer as well, issuing a statement on Tuesday, saying that Meyer had to "regain our trust and respect." Not exactly something you want to hear after just four games at the helm in Jacksonville.

Meyer addressed the media on Monday with an apology after he canceled Monday's practice after the video came to light. Meyer has insisted he will not resign, despite many urging him to do so.
