Toledo Recruit Tate Myre Among Those Tragically Killed In Oxford School Shooting

Three teens were senselessly killed during a shooting at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan, and one of them was Tate Myre, a standout football player who was being recruited by the University of Toledo. Myre was shot while bravely trying to disarm the school shooter who killed two other students besides Myre and wounded at least eight others.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Myre, who will be remembered as a hero, passed away while being rushed to the hospital in a patrol car.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday afternoon and reportedly lasted roughly five minutes. An unnamed 15-year-old sophomore student, armed with a semiautomatic handgun, was responsible for the deadly act. He was arrested and taken into custody by Oakland County police.

Myre, 16, who played running back and linebacker, had just attended Toledo's game with Akron on Saturday as part of a recruiting visit.

The Twitter account of the Oxford High School football program confirmed the news of Myre's tragic passing: "It is with great grief that one of the victims of the tragic event at OHS today was one of our own, Tate Myre. Tate was on varsity since his freshman year and was an honor student. Tate was a great young man with a bright future and beloved by all. You will be missed, Tate."

Hana St. Juliana, 14, and Madisyn Baldwin, 17, also passed way in the disgusting act of violence.

Thoughts and prayers are with the families of all the victims during this unimaginable tragedy.
