Titans HC Mike Vrabel Storms Out Of Press Conference Over Cunningham Questions

From the start of Friday's media session, head coach Mike Vrabel appeared volatile and ready to shut down any questions regarding the team's latest acquisition of inside linebacker Zach Cunningham.

In an abrupt split with the Houston Texans, a team anemic in talent, Cunningham, 26, entered waivers on Wednesday and was ultimately claimed by the Titans (8-4) on Thursday — to the excitement of fans and the Tennessee media.

Vrabel, taking questions Friday, could sense the pent-up curiosity over Cunningham but wanted to keep the queries focused on Tennessee's upcoming assignment against the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-10) Sunday.

Reporters couldn't resist and alluded to Cunningham's availability — Vrabel's response was succinct and serious.

"We're excited to add him to our football team; we'll talk about Zach next week; he won't be active for the football game," said Vrabel. When asked again, he answered: "We'll talk about it next week; he won't be active for the game."

Moments later, another reporter tried to prod Vrabel into a response regarding Cunningham.

"Let's talk about Cunningham's skillset a little bit … " began the question, until he was eventually cut off by a retreating Vrabel after growing tired of the questioning.

Vrabel eventually stormed off the podium when the media couldn't take a hint and pointed to Tennessee's PR director to tell the reporters, "tell 'em who's out," according to the OutKick 360 crew.

On Aug. 2020, the Texans extended Cunningham to a four-year, $58 million deal after leading the team in total tackles last season with 164.
