Titans Have Another Positive COVID Case, Will The NFL Add a Week?

The Tennessee Titans have yet another player who tested positive for COVID, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Titans are also waiting to hear back on an inconclusive test that was also a positive as the franchise now faces missing two straight weeks of action and the possibility of forfeiting games for violating league rules.

Pelissero reports the league is looking at options for the Bills-Titans game, but the team's facility remains closed and the chances of playing Sunday are getting slim. There remains a "prohibition" on in-person activities for the Titans.

The franchise is now up to 12 players and nine non-players who have tested positive since the outbreak inside the Titans team began last week.

Roger Goodell said this week that forfeits could be punishment for violating league COVID protocols. “Protocol violations that result in virus spread requiring adjustments to the schedule or otherwise impacting other teams will result in additional financial and competitive discipline, including the adjustment or loss of draft choices or even the forfeit of a game,” the commissioner said in a memo obtained by the Associated Press.

“Simply put, compliance is mandatory. Now is the time to recommit ourselves to our protocols and best practices for the duration of the season.”

It will take consecutive days of negative results before the Titans facility will be allowed to reopen. With today's news that means the team is looking at Saturday with a game to play Sunday or Monday. However, the Bills play the Chiefs on Thursday, October 15 meaning the league is highly unlikely to move Bills-Titans to Monday.
