Tiger Woods Tracker Twitter Account Appears To Be Victim Of Golf Channel Layoffs

Videos by OutKick

What happened to the unidentified person(s) who would track Tiger Woods’ every move on a golf course via the @GCTigerTracker account? It appears the person(s) behind the account might’ve been a victim of the Golf Channel layoffs that were announced over the summer and closing  of its main Orlando operation as a scaled-down version of the company moves to Stamford, Connecticut where NBC Sports is based.

Golf writer Geoff Shackelford believes the inactivity out of the account signals the powers behind the account have been laid off. GCTigerTracker’s last activity was a September 28 reply tweet. Tiger Woods shot a 66 Friday, which would’ve been a big tweet day for GCTT, but it was crickets out of an account so many people used to keep tabs on Eldrick’s every move.

According to the account’s bio on GolfChannel.com, “Tiger Tracker joined Golf Channel in 2012, ironically in the midst of Woods’ longest-ever streak without a major, which, finally (!) is over. This intrepid observer has followed Woods across the globe, from Australia to Abu Dhabi to California, providing readers with invaluable insight into golf’s biggest attraction.”

“Golf? Well, yes, of course Tracker plays golf. Once a scratch, he has since slipped to a 4-handicap, but he always brings his sticks to play the Monday (or Saturday) after Tiger’s events. If you see him at your local 19th hole, order Tracker his favorite adult beverage – a Crown and ginger ale. You just have to figure out who he is first.”

2020 strikes again and apparently knocked off one of the cherished accounts ever created.
