TNML Salutes Cops Who Step Up & Mow For Elderly Residents

I've said it time and time again -- it's on all of us in the Thursday Night Mowing League to step up for those in our neighborhoods who need an extra hand in time of need. You're able-bodied. You have the means to help. You have the ability to be like Cache County (UT) Sheriff's Deputy Skyler Jensen who was spotted last week in Richmond, Utah handling mowing duties for an elderly couple who needed some help.

Jensen told KUTV CBS-2 that the elderly gentleman had a medical problem and couldn't finish the mowing so the deputy jumped into action and finished off the job.

"His wife just mentioned she'd mow the lawn when she returned from the hospital and I didn't think she needed to do that, she had other things to worry about," Jensen said.

Jensen fired up the mower and finished off the mowing duties.

Now let's go to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where officer Sierra Compton was out on patrol when she noticed resident Jim Sutherland, who needs the help of a walker to get around, struggling to mow his lawn. Compton stopped and told Sutherland she was mowing his yard.

“This is what we should be doing, we should be serving our community, in every aspect that we can," said Compton, who added if she catches Sutherland out mowing she's going to stop and insist on finishing the job.
