The Rock Is Big, But Viral Photo Proves Charles Barkley, Shaq Are Way Bigger

Imagine getting a picture with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

I’m 6 foot and well north of 200 pounds. Pretty big guy, right? Well, The Rock checks in at a cool 6’5, 260 pounds. I mean, our physique is somewhat similar, I suppose — not really, but I’m trying to boost my ego on this Monday morning.

As bad as I would feel standing next to the former football player turned wrestler turned actor, he might feel just as bad taking a picture with Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal. We now have an old photo to compare, thanks to one Twitter user.

Check it out.

Yeah, I’d say there’s a slight size difference.

The Rock made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, and guest host Anthony Anderson brought up the photo. Apparently, The Rock didn’t have any shoes on during the photo, and that’s why there’s such a stark difference.

“Listen, you know that’s the thing about basketball, right? You know this, Anthony, because you’re a fan. You see these dudes; they’re like weekend warriors and you’re like, ‘Oh I could ball in the NBA.’ You get around real players and you recognize quickly just how big these guys are and how impressive these guys are. First of all, I didn’t have any shoes on” The Rock said, via The Spun.

Look, I’ve used that excuse a time or two as well. But even if that is the case here, maybe next time The Rock should think about that before he takes a photo with two of the NBA’s most legendary big men. Just saying.

  1. No way the Rock is 6’-5”. Barkley’s listed height was 6’-5” or 6’-6”, depending on the era, and Sir Charles easily has 4” on DJ

Most wrestlers were 3 to 4” shorter than their “billed” height.

    • I was thinking the same. Unless he’s a step down from those guys the Rock is more like 6’1”-6’2” max. I’ll also say I’ve seen wrestlers get shorter over time, like Hulk Hogan. Hogan at his start was a legit 6’6” 315, but is probably around 6’3 today after multiple back surgeries. I have no idea, but The Rock may have had similar back issues.

  2. I met Shaq when I was a kid, and he is the biggest human being I’ve ever stood next to. It’s shocking. He’s a legit 7’1” 350…and not fat. I’m 6’3” and I felt like a small child standing next to that dude. A freakin beast.
