The New England Patriots Have Terminated The Contract of Julian Edelman, All Eyes Are On Tampa To Make A Move

UPDATE: Julian Edelman announces his retirement after a failed physical.

The New England Patriots have terminated the contract of long-time receiver Julian Edelman for a "failed physical," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Guess the rumor of Edelman joining Tom Brady in Tampa doesn't sound far-fetched anymore, does it?

There are plenty of other options, like helping out Green Bay or potentially the Eagles and that thin receiving corps. But still, the Bucs look like the move.

The best part of this entire experience is Julian Edelman's April Fool's joke. The punchline was that we didn't believe him. For those that missed it, here's what he dropped April 1st:

Brady and Edelman were close during their decade-long tenure in New England, so it shouldn't shock NFL fans if the Bucs add another weapon. Quite a few NFL mock drafts have Tampa replacing Antonio Brown in the first round anyway, so what better way to replace Brown than with another experienced and motivated receiver?

Looks like a fit, and we'll see how it develops in the next couple weeks.
