After a wild season full of ups and downs, Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada is entering the transfer portal. Calzada will not play in the upcoming Gator Bowl against Wake Forest and has not given any indication of where he intends to play next season.
Back in the season opener, Haynes King was named the starting quarterback, beating out Calzada. Unfortunately, during the game against Colorado, King went down with an leg injury that cost him the season. Calzada took over and had some memorable moments for the Aggies, but struggled at times as well.
I have THE MOST love for Texas A&M, my coach’s, teammates, and anybody who has been a part of this process. From the bottom of my heart…Thank you to the 12th man🖤 pic.twitter.com/vZ4QnMGv84

During his time as starter, Calzada passed for 2,185 yards and 17 touchdowns, but he also threw 9 interceptions. He completed 56% of his passes. So, with Haynes King still unavailable to play, the Aggies will most likely roll with walk-on freshman Blake Bost, who has only attempted seven passes, against the Demon Deacons.
Zach will be remembered for his fantastic performance against Alabama, where he led the Aggies to a 41-38 victory. He went 21-31 for 285 yards and three touchdowns in the dramatic win. He led his team on two scoring drives in the final five minutes to upset the Tide.
But he also had moments I am sure he wishes he could get back, like the two fourth-quarter interceptions against Ole Miss which led to the 29-19 loss.
And considering how badly the Aggies’ defense and running game played at times this season, you can’t put it all on the quarterback who dazzled so many eyes against Alabama.
