Texans GM Caserio Doesn't Expect Watson To Play Sunday

The Houston Texans made the news official a few days ago: Tyrod Taylor is going to be the starter under center against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Sunday's opener.

The announcement came as a bit of a shock to some fans who felt that Watson and the Texans would ultimately make up and he'd be the starter on Sunday.

Texans GM Nick Caserio told Payne and Pendergast on Sports Radio 610AM Wednesday he didn't expect to see Watson take any snaps in the home opener.

“I wouldn’t expect him to play. … I wouldn’t anticipate him playing this Sunday and we’ll recalibrate as we go," Caserio said.

It was an offseason to forget for Watson and the Texans. In March and April, the superstar quarterback was slapped with 22 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct during massage sessions.

Watson asked to be traded earlier this offseason, but since the team also had to hire a new coach and new GM, Watson never seriously got close to being moved to another franchise.

Now that it's obvious he's not playing for Houston this weekend, we shall see whether there's movement for him in the trade market.
