Novak Djokovic Defeats Alexander Zverev, Seeking Grand Slam Win At US Open

Novak Djokovic led an incredible victory over Alexander Zverev on Friday night, also becoming a historic moment after Djokovic tied Roger Federer with his 31st Grand Slam Final.

The nearly four hours of tennis at Arthur Ashe witnessed relentless sets endured by both Djokovic and Zverev. An eventual US Open victory for Djokovic on Friday — 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 — puts the Serbian in position to also make history as the first male tennis player to win all four majors in a year since Rod Laver in 1969. Having won the French Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon, Djokovic has a chance to go 4-for-4 at the majors.

Facing a shot at making tennis history, once again, Djokovic is channeling the Mamba Mentality in order to get the job done against No. 2 Daniil Medvedev on Sunday.

Djokovic gave a post-game interview detailing his outlook for the championship match.

"It's his famous interview where he said, 'Why should I be happy right now? Job is not done.’ He's been someone, as probably millions of athletes and people around the world have been looking up to him, admiring him. That's kind of an attitude I have. Job is not done. Excitement is there. Motivation is there, without a doubt. Probably more than ever. But I have one more to go.

"There's only one match left. ... All-in. Let's do it. I'm going to put my heart and my soul and my body and my head into that one. I'm going to treat the next match like it is the last match of my career.''
