Tennis Great Serena Williams To Produce Television Docuseries For Amazon

Tennis legend Serena Williams is set for an appearance on the small screen, as Tuesday it was announced that she will produce a docuseries about her life which will be broadcast on Amazon.

“I’m very excited to be partnering with Amazon Studios – they are developing some of the most inspiring and important content for a global audience,” Williams said.

The new deal with Amazon isn't going to be a one and done, as the 39-year-old Grand Slam tennis champion will develop both scripted and unscripted projects at Amazon, starting with the untitled docuseries.

“I have a lot of stories I’m eager to tell, including a continuation of my own, and I look forward to sharing those with the world," Williams said.

Amazon released a statement about the new partnership with Williams, who transcended women's tennis with 23 career Grand Slam singles titles.

“Serena has transformed her sport and become one of the most inspiring athletes, entrepreneurs and women of her generation, admired not only for her unmatched prowess on the court but for her dedication to advocacy as well,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.

“We’re incredibly excited to share her journey in this new series, and to work with her to create new original content for our Prime Video customers worldwide."

Fans of Williams can look forward to a series that will likely focus not only on her life as one of the most popular tennis stars in the world, but also on what it takes to balance family and fame.
