Teams Calling Jets To Ask About Sam Darnold

Could quarterback Sam Darnold be moved? Apparently, people are checking in to find out.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, multiple teams have called the New York Jets about Darnold, the third overall draft pick in 2018. This season, the Jets have the No. 2 overall pick and there's talk they could draft a new QB.

That may be one reason they aren't turning away the calls about Darnold, per Schefter, as the Jets "haven't made any final and firm quarterback decisions about which direction they want to or are ready to go."

The Washington Football Team, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers were reportedly among the teams that called the Detroit Lions to ask about Matthew Stafford, eventually traded to the Los Angeles Rams. Perhaps those teams are now calling about Darnold.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is also said to be available. "With Stafford off to Los Angeles and the Eagles nearing a deal for Carson Wentz, the Jets are not expected to be far behind in making a quarterback decision of their own that will have leaguewide ramifications," Schefter wrote.
