City Of Champs, Again: Tampa Bay Lightning Win Second Straight Stanley Cup

Closing out the Stanley Cup Finals at home Wednesday night in a 4-1 series win, the Tampa Bay Lightning have won their second straight championship after defeating the Montreal Canadiens, 1-0.

Aided by a strong rebound from Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy after Game 4's disappointing OT finale, Vasilevskiy recorded his fifth shutout of the NHL playoffs and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for his MVP performance. Jonathan Quick was the last goaltender to win the award back in 2012.

The sole score of Game 5 came from Tampa Bay rookie Ross Colton in the second period, assisted by Denis Savard's precise passing.

After the Habs escaped a series sweep on Monday with a 3-2 OT win in Montreal in Game 4, the Lightning celebrated their second Stanley Cup Finals victory at home in front 18,300 fans at Amalie Arena.

Tampa Bay, of course, is also home of the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers, making this quite the year for Florida.
